“After finding the spot, I had to find a way to not get her suspicious. I had my best friend text me asking us if we would like to double date to Frederick Meijer Gardens. (As if I had no idea). We agreed, and his wife was able to bring her professional camera you know, to take pictures of butterflies and stuff… We spent the morning there, admiring the butterflies and sculptures, and finally walked our way through the Japanese Garden. My heart is pounding now. We get to the top of the viewing hill and I ask my friend to take our photo overlooking the gardens. I spoke from the heart, telling her how much she means to me, got down on one knee, and I got the genuine reaction I was looking for!”
